Are you a spouse new to the military? Are you new to San Antonio? Maybe you have been around for a while but haven’t had the time to get involved with other spouses.

Are you concerned about a current or future deployment? Are you looking for opportunities to serve your community? Perhaps you need some adult conversation, yet an opportunity for the children to play and meet friends. Did you just leave your best friend or your family at the last duty station?

  1. What makes you laugh the most?

Definitely my kids. They come up with some of the funniest and off the wall things to say and do. They have me laughing most of the day.

  1. Have you ever had a nickname?

I actually had two, one from my Great Grandfather and the other from my dad. My Great Grandfather used to call me Ash Can, he really didn’t have a reason, that is just what he made up for me. As a child I was not very graceful, but I was courageous (not a good combination), so I broke a lot of bones and was always hurt. My dad ended up calling me Crashley.

  1. If you could share a meal with anyone, past or present, who would it be?

Sigmund Freud. He has done so much for neuroscience and he was extraordinary for his time. I would love to talk with him about how he got started in neuroscience and what motivated him. He also had what I think are crazy theories like the Oedipus Complex, I would love to hear his take on them.

  1. What was your favorite book as a child?

I loved Dogs Don’t Wear Sneakers by Laura Numeroff. I kept the book since 1993 and now my kids love it too.

  1. What was the best gift you’ve ever received?

My husband got me a pair of diamond earrings for our 1st Christmas married, I wear them almost everyday.

  1. What would you sing at karaoke?

I would sing “The House that Built Me” by Miranda Lambert, I love her music.

  1. What’s the most unusual thing you’ve ever eaten?

I am not a very adventurous eater, so it is nothing too crazy. I love pineapple and cheese casserole. It sounds nasty and everyone looks at you like you are crazy when you talk about it, but it is delicious.

  1. If you had to eat the same thing everyday for the rest of your life, what would it be?

I would eat lo mein everyday for the rest of my life if I could. I love great Chinese food!

  1. What is your favorite family tradition?

Decorating the Christmas tree is my favorite tradition. Christmas is such a magical and exciting time as it is, but decorating the tree as a family is great. The kids glow with excitement and remembering special moments with each ornament is awesome.

  1. Which of your five senses is the strongest?

I would have to say my sense of smell is the strongest. Ever since I was pregnant, I have been able to pick up on different smells right away (good and bad). The great or not so great sense of smell has stayed with me; my husband says I have the nose of a dog.
